Animal Production


About

Animal Production Department is one of the most important departments at the Faculty of Agriculture. This department is concerned with providing students with high levels of competence and studying the fields of animal production including animal and poultry nutrition, husbandry, physiology, and production. In addition, Animal Production Department aspires to create students interested in the genetic improvement through selection, development of existing cattle breeds, and the development of new breeds adaptable to nature and local conditions with high efficiency and low costs. Animal production with its various branches is the driving force of the economy and advancement of many countries, hence, members of Animal Production Department are expected to play a significant role in supporting the economy of the country through livestock sector.

Mission

- Creating engineers capable of working efficiently to contribute to the preservation and development of livestock and guarantee of food safety.
- Creating highly qualified graduates in animal production technologies.
- Conducting applied research works in the areas of animal production that serves development and introduce solutions for the scientific and practical problems of animal production sector.
- Providing services for the community through implementing programs for communication with the local community and providing it with services and technical consultations.
- Constant training for agriculture personnel of different levels through holding courses, symposiums, workshops, and expos.

Goals

- Adopting qualifying strategies that meet the needs of local environment for the purpose of achieving balance between education and guidance and achieving sustainable development for animal production sector.
- Providing students with knowledge related to developing animal production with its various branches.
- Providing students with the necessary skills for increasing the efficiency of animal production through following the right administrative procedures based on modern information and available resources.

General Agriculture


About

The General Agriculture Department is one of the most important departments at the Faculty of Agriculture as it prepares and qualifies students academically and practically for specialized departments through setting a comprehensive educational plan that involves providing experienced qualified faculty members and designing courses that meet the modern education requirements in this field. The Department is also concerned with education laboratories since they are the most important component contributing to the practical development of students.

Mission

The General Agriculture Department, through its faculty members, seeks to reach out to high levels with its outputs in terms of theoretical and applied information for the purpose of qualifying students for specialized departments.

Plant Production


About

Plant Production Department is one of the most important departments at the Faculty of Agriculture. Plant production is the science and art of crop and animal production, food production technologies for animals and humans, and psychology-related food (gardens and ornamental plants) which include the general bases of plant production. The department qualifies cadres efficiently to work in the field of vegetable, fruit, and ornamental plants production, garden design, grain production (wheat, barley, rice, etc.), saccharum, legumes, fodder, etc. The department also qualifies cadres to work in plant protection (diseases, insects, pesticides), and to work in various fields of plant and environment resources management. In addition, the department is concerned with preparing agricultural engineers to work in areas of developing and discovering species through selection and genetic improvement of plant production crops. Furthermore, the department is concerned with enriching agricultural science and applications in the fields of agricultural crops production and renewable natural resources management. Plant Production Department provides solutions for all the problems of plant production and looks for the suitable opportunities and alternatives to increase the efficiency and durability of production. Besides, conserving renewable natural resources through highly qualifying and creating national competent graduates and conducting applied research for the purpose of supporting the country’s economy are among the responsibilities of Plant Production Department.

Food Science and Technology


About

The Department of Food Science and Technology is one of the important departments upon which the agricultural faculties are built in modern educational systems due to the fact that it creates qualified students capable of working in all of the areas of food industry including food quality control, maintaining food safety, safeguarding consumer health and safety, and solving problems related to food industry, for the purpose of developing the quality of products and methods of manufacturing in addition to helping the graduates of this department to build a capability to establish and manage highly-profitable small scale or large scale food industry projects.
Bachelor’s students attend the Department of Food Science and Technology after passing the modules of the general department. Students study the basic and applied sciences in the field of food science and technology, the different methods of food processing and preservation, food microbiology, and food chemistry that qualify graduates to work in food processing companies and food quality monitoring organizations, establish small scale industries, or provide consultations in the field of specialization.
